Radio Ministry - a little history

When we eat an apple, we do not put the whole thing in our mouth, but begin with little bites. In January 2004, the Lord put a new thing on my heart, the beginnings of a radio ministry broadcast program with WCHP, a Christian radio station - 760 on your AM dial.

As I prayed for confirmation, these are the Scripture verses that came to me. I share them with you for a purpose:

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Mark 15:20

When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 16:13

Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth."
Jeremiah 1:9

The word of the Lord came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?"
"I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied.
The Lord said to me, "Your have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."
Jeremiah 1:11-12

Then, on March 12th, a dear Christian woman brought this Scripture verse to me as yet another confirmation of this new radio broadcast ministry work.

Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets
so that a herald may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come and will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:2-3

The wonderful thing about this Scripture verse, is that not only did it once more confirm to me that I was to step out in faith into this new radio ministry work, but as I read it, I saw that this Scripture verse from Habakukk mysteriously and wondrously encompassed all the other four previously mentioned Scriptures that the Lord had initially brought to me as confirmation in January 2004.

Write down the revelation....I have put my words in your mouth...
so that a herald may run with it...preached everywhere...
the revelation awaits an appointed time...he will tell you what is yet to come...
will not prove false...the signs that accompanied it...
it will certainly come...watching to see that my word is fulfilled...

I was led to put together a series of twenty one-minute Message Moments, each containing a short message as well as an invitation to visit this website, Life and Doctrine.

The Lord miraculously provided the funding for the beginnings of this new radio ministry work through a gift from a first-time encounter with a wonderful Christian woman, Astrid, who also brought the Word from Habakkuk to me. I am trusting Him to provide for the rest.

These one-minute "Website Moments" were aired on WCHP once a day at varied times during the first 4 weeks of March 2004. They are the birth pangs of a new radio broadcast ministry program, to be called Life and Doctrine. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we are living in anointed times.

And, I continue on with this new work. I have already completed a series of ten five-minute recordings, a mixture of teaching, prayer, and Prophetic Word. Having received two Words from the Lord:

anonymous sponsor,
and,
"The worker deserves his wages",

in faith, I forwarded these recordings to for safe-keeping to Teri Billiter, the Station Manager at WCHP. Once the funding is in place, these too will be aired.

Not waiting, but moving forward in faith, I am now in the process of putting together five fifteen-minute recordings, a series of teachings and testimonials on five aspects of a life of prayer:
- Gifts of the Spirit
- Morning Devotion
- Intercession
- Praying With Others
- Spiritual Direction

These talks with accompanying handout exercises can be used for group work and are free for your use:
A Call to Prayer; series of workshops on five aspects of a prayer life

And I continue to trust in the Lord's provision for these things.

To God be the Glory! Great things He has done!

Serving Christ for the advancement of the Kingdom,
Penny Olive

1. Your Attitude

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5

If God,
alive in the flesh in Christ Jesus,
could put aside his Divinity,
to live and experience the things of humankind,

surely man,

alive now in Jesus Christ,
can put aside his human understanding,
to live and experience the things of God.

2. Onesimus and Freedom

I am sending him - who is my very heart - back to you. Philemon 12

Onesimus was sent back to Philemon. He was no longer a slave. And so he was not sent to be with Philemon because of his status as a former slave, but now to bring freedom to those who were still slaves.

So too, we, when we are freed, are often led by the Lord to those very places that we walked as slaves, not to be returned to where we were, but to bring freedom to those who are still there as slaves.

3. Wedding at Cana

The Wedding at Cana is more than the story of a miracle. It is the story of man's salvation
The wine created from water is the Holy Spirit alive in man.
The Holy Spirit was alive in man in the beginning, and then man chose his own way.
The Son came, and lo and behold, the water poured from his side, and the Spirit was poured out a hundredfold upon mankind.
The best was saved for the last and the children of the Kingdom drink their fill.
The Holy Spirit is available to all in abundance, but not all will drink of this.

Some will have filled themselves with the wine of the world, and so to drink this new and better wine, will not taste the goodness, for they are drunk with the things of this world.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

4. Seasons of our Lives

Just as God has blessed the earth with the seasons of the year
in Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter,
so too has He blessed us with seasons in our own lives.

The preparation, the anticipation, the work, and the restoration:
in these seasons that mold each task in our lives,
arise the difficulties that spring from our own human nature.

Is there stress and anxiety in our time of preparation?

Is there impatience in our anticipation?

Is there fatigue in our time of work?

Is there compacency in our times of rest and restoration?

Let us encourage and spur each other on.
For the One Who is Wisdom will help us in our weaknesses.

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

5. Psalm 51

Psalm 51 is a psalm of repentance, healing, and restoration. It is a cry for mercy to the God Who saves.

It is God's desire that we fall before Him. For if we do not fall, how can He pick us up? It is in the fall that we are restored. For, as we sit in our place of comfort, we restore ourselves, or, at the very least, we try hard to do this.

We exercise, we eat well, we entertain ourselves. Yet we feel something missing. For in the next day, we must begin again. Yet the Lord offers us "the joy of his salvation", new every day.

It is in this hope we have peace, joy, health, and wealth.

Not to be stored up for another day, but to be spent, freely and lavishly every day. For He continually renews us, restores us, heals us, loves us.

What more can a people want?

6. Two Swords

But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword." Matthew 26:52

There are two swords: The sword of the Spirit, and the sword of man.
What you are directs which sword you will pick.
A spiritual man will take up the sword of the Spirit.
Man who walks in the flesh takes up the sword of the flesh, and by this he will perish.

Take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17b

7. Submission to Christ

Now as the Church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit ot their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:24

It is not the outward appearance this Scripture is speaking of, but the attitude of the heart. As the Scripture says, man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord examines the heart.

To be in submission is to abide in someone. As the Church abides in Christ, and he in her, so too can a wife abide in her husband, and he in her, as it is written, they are one.

The Church submits to Christ in this way: With no guilt, and, as she is of great value.

8. Online Prayer Vigil

A 3-year old toddler suffers a stroke; she is now almost completely recovered.
In 2001, his hi-tech business fell upon hard times; his business is recovering, and growing.
A woman in her middle years undergoes hip replacement; all her needs are provided for, and she is at peace.
After prolonged illness and test results indicating Leukemia, symptoms disappear and she receives a clean bill of health.

Who are these people? They are just a few of those whose names have been added to our Online Prayer Vigil.

Do you need prayer? Send me your request by e-mail. Confidentiality will be respected; only the first name, and a brief description of your prayer concern will be posted to the site.

9. A New Heart

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:36

Come. There is a door. Vines are around the edges, giving a glimpse of what is on the other side. There is a knocking at the door. It is not hard to open; it opens away from you; it opens to a garden of delight.

Jesus is the One Who is knocking. The door is your heart.

There is a child, an infant, being cared for, in the palm of a Hand. A heart of flesh, new and glistening is being placed into the child.

The child is you. This is pleasing to the Lord and so another day is brought into being. And the Kingdom is extended.

10. Hand to the Plow

Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Luke 9:62

He who puts his hand to the plow and looks back to see the work of his hands shall no longer be fit for service in the kingdom. For those who look back to see the work of their hands shall see great things, for these things are not of their hands, but the Lord's.

Let us do the work that He places before us. Let us know that He is Lord. Let us go forth to proclaim the Kingdom of God.

11. Spittle

He spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. "Go," he told him, "wash in the pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
John 9:6-7

The spittle of the Lord symbolized the water of Eternal Life. The dirt is the substance of man. Alone, man is blind. Yet with the Eternal substance that is the Lord, his guilt is washed away. And so he sees. To be sent forth, a man must come to be cleansed of that which has blinded him.

Shall the Lord not take us now and breathe new life into us that we, alive and seeing, shall go forth to proclaim this to the nations?

And they shall see of what they are made. And even the smallest, and even the largest shall proclaim: Jesus Christ is Lord.

12. The Cloak of Christ

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
Galatians 2:20

Draw the cloak of Christ around you, and come to the Father.

You will hear these words, "My child, I love you as Myself."

When we draw near to the Father cloaked in Jesus, He looks at us and He loves us - because when He looks at us, He sees Jesus, Whom He loves, and Who is of Himself.

Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; Hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew.

He is waiting for you. Come into that time with Him.

13. The Template

Let's take a closer look at what Jesus is doing in the story of the woman caught in adultery. John 8:1-11

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. John 8:6b

Jesus was giving the situation to His Father in prayer.
He then spoke: "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. John 8:8
Here, Jesus is leaving the situation in His Father's hands, praying, and allowing the Holy Spirit to work.
Look what happens: One by one, they leave, drop their rocks, and leave.

The next time a situation presents itself in your life,
Bend down and start writing on the ground with your finger.

14. Martha - It's about Choice

Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
Luke 10:40

This gospel account is about choice.

When there is a work to be done, the Lord looks around and then he chooses someone to do this work for him. And just as He Himself takes the time to choose us, so too, He then now gives us the choice.

That we not be like Martha, with a bad attitude in the kitchen, and that we know our obedience to Him as a privilege rather than a burden, let us ask Him to fill us with His Love.

In Jesus' Name. Amen.

15. Created in the Image of God

When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind.
Luke 8:35

This healing account, as horrifying as it may seem to some of us, contains a wonderful Truth and holds out great promise.

A legion of demons go out of one man, one single man, who survives days and nights among the tombs - and in an instant the 2000 pigs they enter run off a cliff and drown.

We have indeed been fearfully and wonderfully made.
As it is written: we have been created in the image of God. Genesis 1:27
And the Lord said to Satan, "but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Job 1:12b

16. A Holy Spirit People

When the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me.
John 16:8-9

At the heart of this Scripture is a great Truth: Mankind can only be convicted concerning Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus could tell people who he was, as he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist could point to Jesus because, as it is written, John was filled with the Spirit from the time of his birth. Luke 1:15b

And we the redeemed, the anointed and set free, can also now point to Jesus and say:
Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

For Pentecost has come, and we are now a Holy Spirit People.

17. Passing The Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. John 14:27a

I am the Peace that passes all understanding.
There where I am invited, I go forth in Glory to all who would receive Me. And to those who would reject My Word there is no Peace.
And those who do not know Me, who do not invite Me in, will be at war within themselves, for this is what I bring: love and reconciliation, love and repentance.
And the evil one brings chaos and illness, suffering and anguish.

Let those who would have this Peace come forth. And I the Lord of kings will bless them abundantly and I will lay to waste all that torments them and the peace in their hearts will flow and overflow and all shall come to worship the Lord.

18. Dust that Gathers

As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
for he knows how we are formed,
He remembers that we are dust.
Psalm 103:13-14

Men come and go upon the earth, as dust gathers together and is taken up with the wind, ever to fall again.

It is not this way with Me. I live. And those who are in Me, live. And their life is no longer of the earth. They are no longer dust, but have Eternal Life in Me.

I tell you, only those who hear My Voice live. And there shall be such rejoicing when one more comes into this throng.

Be mindful of this: Man cannot live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Hear My Voice and come forth.

19. They Come

So he got up and went to his father.
But while he wss still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
Luke 15:20

They shall come forth like an army, so many shall there be.

The father saw the son coming from afar, and He prepared a banquet.
You who are with Me, prepare with Me, that when they come you can celebrate with Me.
Yet know this: They come by My Hand and no other.
Yours is to be with Me as I welcome those who have wandered far.
Yours is to be with Me as all prepare to welcome those who were lost.
Yours is to be with Me to welcome those who come.
There is a Banquet prepared for them.
It has been this way since the beginning of time.

20. He Comes

Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!
Luke 19:38

Let the trumpet call and the eagle fly and healing fly on her wings. My people come home. The journey has been long and they are now ready to bring Me in. Yet shall they see: It is not they who open the door: it is not they who bring me in as of old.

It is I the King of Glory Who step forth now to claim what has been rightfully His from the beginning.
They come. They come.
Let the trumpet blast and the heavens know: The King of Glory comes to take His rightful place in the hearts of men.
Hallelujah!
